Driving Organisational Change in a Global Context
“I am leaving with practical tools and renewed confidence to lead change more deliberately and empathetically.” – these were the words of Mr. Camilo Ramírez Parra (Colombia) after successfully completing the Short Executive Programme on Change Management, which took place from 20 – 24 April 2026.
The programme brought together a diverse group of professionals from different cultural and professional backgrounds, creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment. When reflecting on his experience, Mr. Ramírez Parra described the programme as “highly engaging, insightful, and very well structured,” highlighting the strong balance between theory and practice. The interactive discussions, combined with real-world case examples and experienced faculty, contributed to a learning experience that was both relevant and enjoyable.
Understanding the human side of change
In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, organisations are continuously challenged by technological developments, global competition, and shifting market dynamics. Leading change effectively therefore requires more than strategic planning alone—it demands strong leadership, adaptability, and a deep understanding of people and culture.
Professor Geert Heling, Distinguished Professor of Practice in Organisational Behavior, Culture and Change, designed the programme to provide participants with both conceptual frameworks and practical tools to lead organisational change successfully. Throughout the week, participants explored how strategy, vision, and organisational mission drive change, and how leaders can translate these into effective action within their organisations.
A key takeaway for Mr. Ramírez Parra was the importance of the human dimension in change processes: “The programme reinforced the importance of inclusive leadership, effective communication, and stakeholder engagement as critical drivers of successful change initiatives.”
From diagnostics to implementation
The programme covered the full spectrum of organisational change through five integrated modules. Participants started with the fundamentals of organisational change and explored key trends and concepts shaping modern organisations. They then moved into diagnostics, learning how mindset, culture, and the use of diagnostic tools influence the identification of change needs.
Further modules focused on change dynamics, such as trust, resistance, and commitment, and the design of effective change programmes. The implementation phase addressed communication, influence, and leadership, equipping participants with practical approaches to achieve buy-in and impact. The final module integrated all learnings, allowing participants to develop and present their own change programmes.
Throughout the week, participants continuously connected theory to practice, working on real-life cases and developing actionable insights for their own organisations.
A truly global classroom experience
An important aspect of the programme was its multicultural setting. According to Mr. Ramírez Parra, this significantly enriched the learning experience: “The diversity of perspectives, industries, and geographies brought depth to the discussions and challenged me to view change through different cultural and organisational lenses.”
This exchange of experiences not only broadened perspectives but also reinforced the global relevance of change management challenges across industries and regions.
