Does the progress of digital technologies change human behaviors and needs, or do human behaviors change the digital technologies?

24-05-2020

The above question was the starting point for the Full-time MBA Digital Transformation course which took place from 11-15 May 2020. During the course the participants were introduced to the main components and elements to design and implement a successful digital transformation strategy.

Full-time MBA student Sang Tran highlighted that she received a lot of new information. “My key learning outcome is the fact that digital transformation is affected by two key areas, Leadership and Digital Capability. I also learned how to use digital to engage customers, listen to customers and to learn what customers like. Using digital to get a better understanding of the customer will ultimately enhance the company’s performance.”

During the course the participants worked on well-known case studies that covered various aspects of the digital transformation, starting from formulating and developing a strategic roadmap up to the barriers and challenges of deployment of the relevant digital technologies. Several digital transformation technologies, innovations and business models were covered such as platforms, mobile technologies, analytics, the Internet of Things, big data, social media, sensors, apps and cloud computing. After following the course the participants are now able to apply and communicate different concepts of Digital Transformation.

“The lecturer, Vincent Feltkamp, created a constructive study environment to get the most out of the distance learning teaching method. I also favoured the encouragement of the lecturer to share ideas in a productive and open way,” said Sang Tran upon completion of the 5-day course.

The Digital Transformation course consisted of interactive lectures, a case analysis in groups including presentations, discussions and a mini research. The students will also work on a Digital Business Plan for which they have to invent a digital business model.
