Unlocking leadership potential with MSM’s Mastering Leadership program

22-10-2018

From 8 – 19 October 2018, 20 participants from 11 different cultures participated in the Mastering Effective Leadership program. The program - which consists of one week Personal Leadership Skills and one week Team Leadership Influencing Skills – is created to develop the leadership skills of current and future leaders to become more successful at work and in life.

Last year the importance of skills was underlined in 2 articles. In a first article the Supralet project was covered. This project was conducted in Hungary, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands. In this program the criminal justice lawyers are trained in communicative skills and how to carry out the first interview with a suspect. A second article in Newsweek showed that China has 1,3 million young engineers but only 160.000 are skilled enough to be hired by multinationals. One lacks for example the theoretical skills, negotiation skills and the ability to work in teams and across borders.

Based on these learning and their extensive long-term experiences in more than 30 countries, Carin Beijer, specialist in Management Development, Psychology and Anthropology and Miriam Frijns, trainer and consultant in organizational and individual leadership, set up the 2-week Mastering Leadership program

The first part of the program focused on getting the participants out of their comfort zone, help them to identify their strengths & weaknesses and unlock their talents through exercises and in-depth personal interviews. The insights and skills acquired in the first week were of high value for the second week, which focused on the role of the leader in successfully leading and managing a team. The feedback Carin and Miriam often get from participants is that the program has a long-lasting impact.
