Extracurricular Internship

MSM offers the opportunity to students in the Maastricht based Full-time MBA and Master in Management to further enhance their academic experience through an Extracurricular Internship. This optional track enables you to gain practical and professional experience after completing your Master’s programme, while earning additional ECTS credits.

Planning your Extracurricular Internship: What you need to know

  • You need to find and arrange your own internship.
  • Participation requires the completion of all courses and academic requirements, including the thesis.
  • A formal internship agreement and prior approval are required before starting.
  • The internship must be relevant to your studies and, if you hold a Dutch student visa, based in the Netherlands.
  • The internship duration ranges from 336 to 840 hours (equivalent to 12–30 ECTS) within a period of maximum 6 months.
  • You will receive an MSM internship supervisor.
  • At the end of the internship, you will need to submit an internship report and receive a pass/fail grade.
  • You will need to postpone your graduation however, you can still participate in the graduation ceremony of your cohort (receiving an empty folder). Or you may choose to participate in the following graduation to receive your diploma on stage.
  • Participation is subject to an additional fee of 800 euro for supervision and administrative support.

Please note that extracurricular internships are additional to the curriculum and cannot replace any programme components. Only one extracurricular internship is permitted per Master’s programme. The internship must be completed during the additional year of student status granted for the purpose of undertaking the Extracurricular Internship, immediately after the first year of studies.
