Entrepreneurship program for Chengdu University

On 12, 13 and 14 December, MSM welcomed 14 faculty members of Chengdu University for a special program on entrepreneurship and university-industry linkages.

On 12, 13 and 14 December, MSM welcomed 14 faculty members of Chengdu University for a special program on entrepreneurship and university-industry linkages. On the initiative of the Confucius Institute Maastricht, the group was visiting Maastricht. Chengdu city and the Municipality of Maastricht have a formal partnership as well as the two provinces in which these cities are located (Sichuan province and the Province of Limburg). The delegation expressed its appreciation to MSM and its hope for further collaboration, including student exchange.

On the first day, MSM Associate professor Wynand Bodewes shared some of his learnings from teaching entrepreneurship in the Netherlands and Belgium. With the group, he explored views on entrepreneurship as a learnable activity: ranging from formal education to learning by doing. On the second day, Diederik de Boer and Sandra Adriaansens focused on the origin and lessons learned of triple helix models globally, and discussed the relevance and experiences in the Chinese context. In the afternoon, the group visited the Brightlands Innovation Factory where they received a special welcome by Dr. JP (Joost) van den Akker, Deputy Commissioner Economics and Knowledge of the Limburg Province. On the last day, Huub Mudde shared cases of entrepreneurial universities after which the group assessed how entrepreneurial Chengdu University is.
