Strengthening Collaboration on Digital Transformation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education
In the first week of June, MSM had the pleasure of hosting partners from Uganda involved in the Erasmus+ cooperation project “ODeL–UG: Enhancing Access and Quality of the Higher Education Landscape in Uganda through Open-Distance e-Learning.”
The visiting delegation arrived here after visiting the other European partner, University of Lisbon, and it included colleagues from The Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU), the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Kabale University, and Mountains of the Moon University. During their stay, participants engaged in a rich series of sessions focused on quality assurance in higher education, digital transformation and the use and challenges of AI in education.
The programme benefited from the expertise and support of colleagues from across Maastricht University. Sessions were delivered by Bas Giesbers (Learning Academy) and Peter van Wersch (PDQA) from the School of Business and Economics (SBE), alongside MSM faculty members Mirjana Stanisic, Stuart Dixon, Adriana Seclaman and Oliver Olson. Participants also took part in an engaging session at EdLab led by Annechien Deelman and a workshop at DEXLab, providing additional perspectives on innovation and digital learning.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity to reflect together on the continuing relevance of quality assurance in higher education, regardless of the mode of delivery. Discussions explored both the opportunities and the practical challenges related to distance and e-learning, leading to many insightful exchanges among participants.
We are especially grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from different teams throughout the week. We would like to thank all colleagues and partners for their engagement, openness, and inspiring contributions during the visit. We are looking forward to continuing these conversations and to meeting our colleagues from Uganda again soon, this time at their universities.
