16-07-2026

From 8 to 15 July 2026, MSM conducted a strategic mission to Sri Lanka to further strengthen its longstanding partnership with the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Colombo. PIM is widely recognised as Sri Lanka's first and leading business school.

For the past eight years, MSM and PIM have maintained a successful collaboration focused on executive education and international capacity development. Through this partnership, PIM annually nominates a diverse group of professionals to participate in MSM programmes in Maastricht. Participants represent a broad range of sectors, including financial services, agriculture, public administration, and the Sri Lankan Inland Revenue Department, creating a rich exchange of knowledge and international experience.

The July mission reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to further deepen their collaboration. Discussions focused on expanding joint MBA offerings, strengthening executive education, and exploring new opportunities for capacity-building projects that contribute to sustainable economic development. Particular attention was given to initiatives aimed at improving the investment climate, including the development of One-Stop Investment Centres that can facilitate and accelerate investment processes.

During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sri Lanka, the Port City Colombo investment team, officials from Galle City, and the academic leadership and faculty of PIM. These discussions explored opportunities to connect academic expertise with public-sector reform and private-sector development initiatives in Sri Lanka.

MSM also extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Goonetilleke, whose longstanding commitment and support have been instrumental in strengthening the collaboration between PIM and MSM and in facilitating this strategic mission.

The visit reflects MSM's continued commitment to building long-term international partnerships that combine academic excellence with practical impact. By working closely with leading institutions such as PIM, MSM contributes to leadership development, institutional strengthening, and sustainable economic development in emerging economies.
