4 reasons why a Master in Management will benefit your career

15-01-2020

Finding the right education that matches your (future) career goals can be a challenge. Especially finding a degree that helps you kick-start or accelerate your career as a manager can be quite a job. You often need a good amount of work experience to qualify for a management study. However, this is not the case for Maastricht School of Management’s (MSM) Master in Management (MM) program. This program has been developed for recent bachelor graduates and professionals with less than 3 years of work experience and will help you to develop your leadership and managerial skills.

So, are you ambitious, interested to manage people and processes with success in any organization, country or context? Then the MSM Master in Management program is the right one for you!

Let’s have a look at the 4 reasons that makes the MSM Master in Management program unique:

1. Learn and network through diversity
The MSM Master in Management is one of the most international programs with an average of 15 nationalities in one classroom. Sharing the classroom with fellow participants from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds is a unique experience. This diverse and international learning environment will help you to develop and improve your global awareness and multi-cultural leadership skills; a big asset in today’s fast-changing global market place. After all, this is where you will be working together with people from all corners of the world.

“My favorite memory of MSM is when I met new people from different backgrounds and cultures and was able to learn in a rich multicultural environment which broadens both my knowledge and point of view about the world.” – Adi Pratama, Master in Management Alumnus

2. Connecting theory to the real world of business
During this one-year program, you will learn how to steer an organization to high performance in a diverse and multicultural international business context. The MSM Master in Management takes a practice-oriented approach, where you will gain new knowledge and skills from experienced faculty, and through the interaction with international companies. The learned theory can be directly implemented in a company project where you will work with fellow students on solving an actual problem of a specific company in the region. This will enable you to manage the challenges of global business.

“I found the program practical and challenging. During each course, we applied theory to practice through case studies, presentations, company visits and two consultancy projects that we did for German and Dutch companies.” Mariia Kirichenko, Master in Management Alumna

3. Develop yourself into an effective and responsible manager
You will develop a complete set of managerial skills through theory and practice but also through the Career and Personal Development Track. Throughout the year, you will participate in various workshops that will help you develop your personal and interpersonal skills, a vital asset for every manager. Workshops on topics such as negotiation skills, stress and time management, a self-awareness workshop and a work/life balance session. You will be challenged to develop your own unique approach to management that inspires.

“MSM taught me to build my confidence and be more expressive through extensive group presentations and social events organized throughout the academic year. More amazing, was the opportunity to work in dynamic cross-functional and multicultural teams, which showed me the strength of teamwork, while also building my self-sufficiency.” – Jennifer Azih, Master in Management Alumna

4. Prepare yourself for the job market
During the CPDT track, you will also develop soft skills that are important in finding a job after graduation. You can join training sessions on CV and motivational letter writing for the Dutch market, presentation skills, LinkedIn and video resume, elevator pitch workshops and more. You can be part of the CV Book compiled and published by MSM. This CV Book is sent to our corporate partners to facilitate the recruitment of our students. During MSM's Annual Corporate Week you can connect with different companies and enjoy personal development sessions to strengthen your career management skills.

“The MSM corporate days were a great way to really bind together everything that we’ve learned through the year. All the different topics from different courses came together and were relative in some way to each corporate partner that presented to us! Each presentation had its own merits. Even the companies that did not appeal at first to my personal interests managed to intrigue me in some way. Moreover, some companies I had never heard of before had me immediately looking up vacancies because I was so impressed by their company culture or their industry!” – Dixon Block – Master in Management Alumnus
