The economic environment in which we operate is influenced by how the different actors in society relate to each other. This is even more so the case at localised levels. The application of policies are becoming more to life at local levels. Local Economic Development can be defined as a process in which agreements between (local) governments, society and the private sector are established to manage existing resources to create jobs and stimulate the economy of a well-defined territory. As such local economic development is linked to the triple helix and partnership approach, cluster thinking, competitive resources, the institutional environment and value chain analysis. Within local economic development MSM specialises in the sectors of agribusiness development, water management, rule of law, sexual, mental and reproductive health and private sector development.
