Quality Assurance, Accreditation and Memberships

“Accreditation” is an external stamp of quality on an institution’s educational programs. It means that the institution has subjected these programs to an independent external audit, which sets certain standards and requirements for the qualification to be issued. It is an important instrument for students, their families, government officials, employers and the press to have the assurance that an institution or program provides high quality education.

For MSM it is important that our degrees are accredited by the major external and independent accreditation bodies, as this means that we are providing a sound and solid business education to our students. It is however also important to our students: not only to give them the peace of mind that they are investing in an accredited program, but also because it is often a requirement from their sponsors that they only enroll in accredited programs.

MSM’s programs are accredited by the following accreditation organizations:

The MSM residential full-time MBA program, the part-time Executive MBA program (EMBA) in Maastricht and the Online MBA are accredited by the Dutch – Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO). The residential full-time Master of Arts in Management in Maastricht is also accredited by the Dutch - Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO).

The full-time, part-time and online MBA program in Maastricht are also listed in the Ministries’ Central Registration of Higher Education in the Netherlands (CROHO). The listing of the residential full-time Master of Arts in Management in Maastricht in CROHO will follow soon.

Please note that only the Master of Arts in Management and MBA programs offered in Maastricht carry the NVAO accreditation.

This has two important implications. First, only the full-time residential Master of Arts in Management, the full-time residential MBA and part-time Executive MBA programs offered in Maastricht are considered “Dutch” degrees and accredited as such by the Dutch authorities. Second, it has an implication for students wishing to legalize their diplomas in the Netherlands.

Here, one must keep in mind the difference between legalization in the sense of confirmation of authenticity (by means of an apostille stamp) and legalization in the form of recognition by the NVAO. In the Netherlands, the latter legalization can be provided by DUO only for the purpose of a study program registered by NVAO that has been included in the CROHO.

(ATTENTION: Until further notice, MSM can only assist with confirmation of authenticity of diplomas.  Any other type of verification needs to be done by the graduate themselves in their home country at the respective embassy.  Confirmation of authenticity is currently not possible for use in Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.)

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is the international impartial authority on postgraduate business education.

The following programs of MSM are accredited by AMBA (including Maastricht and global provisions):

  • MBA (full-time, part-time, online and global provisions)
  • MM (full-time and global provisions)
  • DBA
