Triple Helix Concept lessons for Tanzania's national accreditation council for technical education (NACTE)

06-07-2018

On Friday 22 June 2018 Dr. Rutayuga, Director of the National Accreditation Council for Technical Education (NACTE) in Tanzania and Mr. Amani Makota – Advisor NACTE visited MSM to meet with Mr. Meinhard Gans, MSM Associate Dean International Projects & Consultancies and Dr. Diederik de Boer, Assistant Professor Sustainable Business. Unfortunately, Dr. Leonard Akwilapo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Tanzania had to cancel his participation in the meeting.

The meeting at MSM was the closure of a weeklong visit to the Netherlands, which was meant as follow-up to the completed Nuffic funded NACTE capacity building project, and to learn more about triple helix concepts (government–university–industry relationships). In this perspective, MSM organized work visits for Dr. Rutayuga and Mr. Amani Makota to the LIOF (Limburg Investment Bank), the Innovation Lab of Delft University and the Brightlands campus in Geleen in Limburg, which is a good example of a triple helix concept with academia and companies working together in a government supported infrastructure. Additionally they visited Nuffic, the Dutch Organization for International Education.
