Meet MSM's staff members: Introducing ms. Maud Jeukens

30-10-2018

At MSM we are proud of the more than 40 staff members who are committed and eager to fulfill our mission in offering management and entrepreneurship education, advice and research to individuals and organizations from all over the world. To become more acquainted with our staff members and to show you how it feels for them working at MSM we will each month highlight one of our staff members. This month the spotlight will be on Ms. Maud Jeukens

Let me introduce myself…
My name is Maud Jeukens and I am working as Officer Global Education programs at MSM. In this position I coordinate the residential Master in Management (MIM) program, as well as MSM’s Master in Business Administration (MBA) program in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), the MBA and MIM programs in Sana’a (Yemen) and the double degree program with Nichols College in the US.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree Tourism Management from Breda University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), and a second Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Hogeschool Gent (Belgium).

I love the feeling that comes with moving to another country and step into a whole new adventure!
During my study I had the opportunity to live abroad to do internships in Vancouver (Canada) and in Barcelona (Spain). I really like exploring new cultures, meeting new people and I love the feeling that comes with moving to another country and step into a whole new adventure! The need for adventure didn’t disappear after my studies which made me move to Tanzania for a few months. During this stay I helped building up a chemistry lab for a school in a small village. A year after I turned home I went back together with my family to climb the Mount Kilimanjaro and to visit the village to find out how the school had developed.

Meeting new students and see them grow over the year is very rewarding…
In my position at MSM I work with the MIM students on a daily basis and I really enjoy it! I think this all has to do with living abroad myself for such a long time and also because the age gap between the students and me is not that big. That makes that I fully understand their wishes and needs. Meeting new students every year, building up a relationship with each of them and seeing them grow over the year is very rewarding. I am still in touch with many of the MIM alumni and it’s great to see how they have grown in their personal and professional live!

At the end we all have the same goal and that’s providing quality education to students around the globe…
Another interesting aspect of my work is the collaboration with our partners who live in different parts of the world. It is quite amazing to experience that, despite the fact that we are different in so many ways, we all have the same goal and that’s providing quality education to students all around the globe. Every day is different. Each student has his/her own story and I feel very privileged to be of added value in their journey. I especially enjoy the social moments with our students. This gives me the opportunity to get to know them on a more personal level. My favourite social student event? That’s our annual ‘International Dinner’ where all our students cook a dish from their home country.

What I mostly do in my spare time…
There are a lot of things I like to do in my spare time…actually I would need more time to do them all! I love going out with friends, go to festivals, play tennis (only on a recreational basis) and of course travelling.  My next trip will go to Norway, to (hopefully) see the magical Northern lights!
