Participants of the second cyclical Management and Leadership training learn about effective monitoring and teams

From 20th – 24th January 2020 in Kigali, SEAD in collaboration with Maastricht School of Management organized a second cyclical Management and Leadership training aimed at middle management in the institutions with a long term or permanent middle management position in the IPRC’s, UR (CAVM, CBE, CST) and INES Ruhengeri to boost their managerial capacity.

Effective management and leadership is a pre-requisite to sustain SEAD’s work. This training followed earlier training in December 2019 where SEAD conducted the first cyclical Management and leadership training, mainly on how to strengthen the practical interpersonal and leadership skills, such as delegation, providing feedback, motivation, conflict handling and team management skills, Training on Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle drives for competing values; in this with a focus on control and collaborate.

With facilitation of Professor Leo Kerklan from MSM, the second training focused on monitoring the progress in executing a plan for improving future performance, application of KPIs in the monitoring process and on how to identify the close performance gaps and to use improvement opportunities by collaboration in small teams.

Participants analyzed the actual performance of their departments in relation to external development, they initiated improvements and developed implementation plans therefore, are able to engage team members through participating decision making in the initiation and implementation process, the participants also exchanged experiences and (best) practices around management and leadership from their institutions.

The third training is planned take place from 2nd – 6th March, 2020 and the Participants who will complete all four sessions and the related assignments will receive a diploma from Maastricht School of Management (MSM).
