SAS21 curriculum development and implementation in Cibubur
The 8th vocational curriculum development training for the SAS21 lecturers was hosted in Cibubur, West Java from 20 to 24 June 2022. This training was the last in a series of SAS21 trainings for the curriculum development of poultry and dairy courses in line with the labour market needs which began in 2019
Like the previous trainings, the SAS21 activity was attended by representatives from 6 SMKs and 5 polytechnics. In the training, apart from forming modules, the trainees were also provided with practical and effective teaching and assessment practices both inside and outside the classroom.
Over the course of the curriculum development trainings a total of 52 professional tasks, 52 assessments, 156 learning tasks, and more than 156 practical instructions have been developed by the participants under supervision from the content experts of AERES. A big part of the 8th curriculum development training evolved around the implementation of the developed modules in the institutes. With a focus on what kind of information should be provided to different stakeholders about assessments and learning tasks. Specific attention was given to the instruction to be provided to students. Furthermore the involved staff of the different institutes in small groups was asked to provide a practical instruction using one of the developed practicals as example.
To assure proper usage of the developed material an implementation plan was proposed and discussed both with the various layers of agricultural vocational education partners of the project as well as external stakeholders, such as members of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Agriculture and private sector representatives. At the level of SMK the adoption of the developed curriculum ranges from adopting elements of the developed material till full adaptation. For this only informal approval was provided by the ministry of Education e.g. through Campus Merdeka (https://kampusmerdeka.kemdikbud.go.id/). This freedom to enhance the content with renewed insights attuned to the labour market needs and to be more practical oriented. At polytechnic level implementation is more flexible and varies per institute. Each polytechnic made an implementation plan with at least implementing some modules. Others have the intention to fully implement the new curricula at the moment curriculum revision will take place at the given institute.
Moreover, the content will be sustained and will contribute to future implementation plans as it remains publicly available to project stakeholders. The platform used for sharing will include further information on the proper utilization of the content.
