06-05-2024

On Monday 29 April 2024, we had the pleasure to welcome two cohorts from the 2022 intake of the Executive MBA programme jointly offered by MSM and Nanjing University (NJU) for a five-day study visit at MSM in Maastricht.

The Executive MBA students specialising in Healthcare Management followed the course ‘Innovation and Hatching in Healthcare’ while the students specialising in Innovation Management dived into the course Design Thinking and Creativity.

Both groups enjoyed a rich study programme filled with classes, guest lectures and work visits.

Innovation Management
Dr. Andy Zinga led the course Design Thinking and Creativity, where he invited several experts to provide insightful guest lectures. Alongside the classroom sessions, the students had the opportunity to explore various companies during interesting work visits. They visited Mosa Meat, a Dutch food technology company known for pioneering cultured meat production methods, Cargil Innovation Center Europe, a global company dedicated to sustainable food and agriculture solutions, and Design Thinkers Group, a leading innovation agency focused on enhancing organisational strategies and customer experiences. They closed off their work visits with a visit to KLM Dutch Airlines.

Healthcare Management
Dr. Freek Lapré delivered the course on Innovation and Hatching in Healthcare to the Healthcare Management cohort. Also Dr. Lapré invited inspiring experts into the programme for providing valuable guest lectures.  The Healthcare Management students enjoyed work visits to a variety of organisations in the healthcare sector. They visited Hecht GGD Hollands Midden, a public health organisation dedicated to protecting, monitoring and promoting regional public health, RAV Hollands Midden, providing regional ambulance services, and the Center for Youth and Family, an organisation offering free advice about raising and growing children of all ages. The final visit was a visit to the Zuyderland Hospital, offering insights into the Hospital of the 21st Century.

After an immersive week of learning and gaining fresh perspectives, the students travelled back to Nanjing, ready to apply their new knowledge and insights into their daily responsibilities.
