MSM to build the knowledge capacity of ICARE in Eco-Tourism in Armenia

13-09-2018

In cooperation with the International Center for Agribusiness Research and Education (ICARE) in Armenia MSM has won a Nuffic tender to build the knowledge capacity of ICARE in Eco-tourism.

ICARE is a non-governmental and non-commercial organization that develops a sustainable knowledge capacity for the food and agribusiness sector in Yerevan, Armenia. Together with the help of MSM ICARE wants to build its knowledge capacity in tourism, particularly in eco-tourism. This will help the organization to offer eco-tourism related courses within existing academic programs, as well as help establishing a completely new certificate program in tourism, with an accentuation on eco-tourism.

ICARE faculty and staff have vast experience in teaching, but theoretical knowledge and practical skills on how to teach eco-tourism related courses is not sufficient yet. During the tailor made training MSM experts will train ICARE staff and faculty in the methodology in teaching eco-tourism related courses, as well as teach subject specific knowledge and skills. By strengthening its knowledge base on eco-tourism, ICARE will be better capable of supporting the development of the eco-tourism industry in Armenia.

The project will run from October 2018 until June 2019 and will be will be managed by Diederik de Boer, Director of the International Projects Department and Consultancies and Ass. Professor in Sustainable Business Development.

Maastricht School of Management and Agribusiness development
MSM has ample experience in supporting agribusiness from an institutional and organizational knowledge eco-system point of view. Issues on how to link agro-supply and demand can be assessed, but also the development of apprenticeship programs, agribusiness eco systems, the development of agribusiness inclusive clusters, the development of telephone farmer systems, the setting up of agribusiness franchising models or agribusiness incubation parks and the development of curricula for agribusiness degree and non-degree programs can be researched and developed.

Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme
The project between the International Center for Agribusiness Research and Education and MSM will be developed through a grant from the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) from Nuffic. The OKP aims to contribute to a society’s sustainable and inclusive development by offering access to education and training to professionals and organizations.
