MSM MBA Summer School 2025 – Empowering Global Minds
On Saturday 14 June 2025, MSM proudly kicked off the 2025 MBA Summer School. With 179 students and 25 lecturers from over 20 countries gathering in Maastricht, the Summer School has been a truly international experience. We welcomed students from the MSM’s residential Full-Time MBA, the Global Online MBA, and from the global MBA programmes at our partner institutes Corvinus University of Budapest, Bucharest International School of Management (BISM), Kuwait Maastricht College of Management (KMCM) and Universitas Indonesia (UI).
Over the course of two weeks, the students engaged in one of the following six specialized expertise tracks: Accounting & Finance, Entrepreneurship, Global Business Dynamics, Healthcare Management, Innovative Leadership and The Digital Economy.
The summer school courses offered a rich blend of theory, group work, simulation games, expert guest lectures and company visits, creating a dynamic and immersive learning experience.
Global Online MBA student Stewart Rodulfo, who participated in the Entrepreneurship track, particularly appreciated the classroom diversity: "Coming all the way from Aruba, being part of this MBA Summer School has been a truly fulfilling experience. The opportunity to learn alongside such a diverse and driven group has inspired me deeply. This course has not only expanded my perspective but also helped me grow into a more reflective and collaborative leader."
Executive MBA student Maali Bu-Shehri from Kuwait, a participant in the Innovative Leadership track, also emphasized the value of diverse interactions: “This path has been more than just intellectual; it actually impacted my perspective, behaviour, and interaction with others. Dealing with colleagues from many backgrounds helped me to see the need of teamwork, openness, and creative thought. It gave me more confidence, flexibility, and ability to lead globally.”
Fellow participant in the same track, Executive MBA student Traian Ilie from Romania, shared his reflections on the learning experience: “It was a unique and immersive learning experience in a multicultural environment, focused on leadership and how we can have a greater impact on the people around us. We explored what makes a high-performing team and how to create the right context to foster performance. Since executive roles are about making sound choices, we learned how to strengthen our ambidextrous thinking for both strategic and innovative decision-making. It was intense, insightful, and a lot of fun.”
Full-Time MBA student Steven van Wyk, who chose the Digital Economy track, found it highly applicable to real-world practice: “What benefited me most was learning to build customer personas from data, figure out what jobs people are really trying to get done, and design innovative digital services around that. I’ve already started using these tools in my freelance consulting - and they’ve really helped me guide clients toward smarter, more customer-focused strategies. It’s also been a great steppingstone as I pivot toward a career in digital and AI transformation, where human-centered change is key.”
Adityan Kadirvelu, also Full-Time MBA student and participant in the Digital Economy track, highlighted the depth of learning: “It has been quite transformative. I have been learning a lot of information starting from the ethical background, psychological background and the socio-economic background and the how's and what's and why of each and every process, as well as data-driven decisions.”
Executive MBA student Nour Al Mousa from Kuwait, who joined the Entrepreneurship track, praised the structure and atmosphere of the Summer School: “What stands out for me is how smooth the whole experience is. The orientation materials were clear and gave us a picture of what to expect this summer. Classes move fast but stay on point, and each session builds on the last with a hands-on approach. Finally, both the faculty and the students are friendly and approachable.”
Full-Time MBA student Esha Mohan, part of the Accounting & Finance track, appreciated the practical insights provided by the lecturers: “It has been a fantastic experience. The professors shared valuable insights from their real-world work, which made the sessions very practical and easy to connect with. I especially enjoyed the case studies. They led to sharp, focused discussions in class and encouraged critical thinking and problem solving. I’ve learned a lot in a short time.”
Executive MBA student Marilena Dragomir from Romania joined the Healthcare Management track with great enthusiasm: “It was a pivotal experience in my leadership journey. The programme offered strategic insights and advanced methodologies on sustainability in healthcare, leveraging technologies and leadership with an emphasis on leading professionals. Delivered by senior lecturers who encouraged exploration in a multicultural environment, the track significantly enhanced my ability to embed innovation and excellence in healthcare while refining my leadership approach. I am excited to implement the knowledge and strategies I've acquired.”
