31-08-2022

At the brink of MSM’s merger into Maastricht University, MSM and the Indonesian Constitutional Court renewed their cooperation in an online signing ceremony. The document signed provides a framework for cooperation in the field of education, institutional capacity building, academic research, and exchange of experts.

Special guests at the ceremony were the Indonesian Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in the Netherlands and representatives of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Jakarta and of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Professor Dr. Guntur Hamzah, Secretary General of the Indonesian Constitutional Court stressed the importance of the cooperation with MSM. He mentioned that the quality of the court depends on the quality of its staff. He hopes that MSM will contribute to further capacitate his staff as modern professionals with an international outlook. Further, he expects that MSM will also learn from their experiences, forging a mutually beneficial learning process.

MSM CEO Meinhard Gans indicated that MSM is very pleased to renew the cooperation, as it has been effective over the past years. In light of MSM being part of Maastricht University, he expressed the wish to broaden and deepen the cooperation by engaging the Faculty of Law.

In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, six staff member of the Constitutional Court followed a customized internship programme. It is the intention that other staff members will come to Maastricht in 2023 for a similar programme.
