MSM delivers custom made programme on Big Data Management for Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority in Tanzania
In December 2025, Maastricht School of Management (MSM) delivered a custom-made executive programme on Big Data Management and Data-Driven Decision Making for professionals from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) in Tanzania.
The programme focused on how data, analytics and artificial intelligence can be applied to improve operational efficiency, visitor management and traffic forecasting within conservation areas. Through a combination of interactive lectures, demonstrations and hands-on workshops, participants explored the full data lifecycle – from identifying data needs and collecting data, to analysing, visualising and interpreting insights for strategic and operational decisions.
Participants worked with professional analytics tools such as Tableau for dashboarding and data visualisation, and Orange3 for inferential analysis, forecasting and machine learning applications. Real-world use cases related to park operations enabled participants to directly link analytical techniques to challenges faced within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The programme also introduced participants to predictive modelling and artificial intelligence, including machine learning and deep learning techniques, to better anticipate traffic congestion and visitor flows. By the end of the programme, participants were equipped with practical skills to translate data into actionable insights that support sustainable park management and long-term planning.
