Online Masterclass: The COVID-19 crisis and the Euro
On Tuesday 30 June 2020 from 19.00 hrs – 20.00 hrs (CEST), Professor Aad van Mourik PhD, Professor of Managerial Economics at Maastricht School of Management, will conduct a free online Masterclass on “The Covid-19 crisis and the Euro". This masterclass is part of an online Masterclass series during which experts will discuss different business areas in the light of COVID-19.
About the online Masterclass
The Covid-19 crisis has caused the worst economic crisis since the end of the Second World War. Pessimists and anti-Europeans are predicting that the crisis may destroy the euro and possibly even the European Union. Southern euro countries, currently under the leadership of French president Macron, have always been advocating a mutualization of debt in Europe. Recently they seemed to have gained ground with the proposal of the Corona recovery fund and the renewed policy of quantitative easing. Will the eurozone finally be completed with a full fiscal union (or will it keep muddling through)?
This free online masterclass is designed mainly for everyone who is interested in the future of the Euro.
During this one-hour online Masterclass, Professor Van Mourik will share his views and expertise about the impact of the COVID-19 economic crisis on the European Union and the Euro in particular. You will leave this masterclass with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of Covid bonds, EU fiscal policy competences and the (de-)merits of the proposed rescue fund.
At the end of the Masterclass, you will also have the opportunity to ask your questions.
