Finalized your Bachelor? What’s your next step?

04-08-2020

After a few years of hard work, you received your Bachelor’s degree. Now what? You have basically three options – taking a gap year, finding a job or continuing your studies.

Often the reason behind taking a gap year is to acquire life experiences and maturity that will prepare you for your studies and ultimately your career. However, if you planned to travel the world before starting your master in management degree and pursuing your career in management, covid-19 may have put a major spanner in the works. Finding a job in a covid-19 affected economy might not be easy as well, with a lot of companies and organizations struggling to survive.

We understand that the current situation is not ideal and you would like to travel freely, embark on your jobhunting journey or start a degree the normal way just as it was pre-pandemic. However, would simply wait out this pandemic be the best option? We don’t think so. A gap year of staying at home probably will not bring you any of the benefits that you could have gained while being abroad developing yourself. So, don’t throw away this year, pursue that international experience and broaden your horizon.

Learn and network in a multi-cultural environment
If you are aiming for that true international experience while studying instead of traveling, our Master in Management program might be just right for you. Due to this pandemic, we opened a special January 2021 intake in case you might not be able to join the program this October. Even better is that the January intake also provides a hybrid option, which means you can join the program online until you are able to travel to Maastricht. Nevertheless, we of course hope that you can join in person.

The Master in Management program will bring you a true international experience as the program has an average of 10 different nationalities in one class. This is also what MSM is well known for. Its international environment, bringing together people from many different cultures and backgrounds in one classroom.

Similar to when traveling, in our program you will experience different cultures, you might even learn a new language (Dutch for example), develop new life skills, improve yourself, have fun and create life-long friendships, travel to other European destinations (when the covid-19 situation allows), and live life to the fullest while boosting your job prospective at the same time.

Master in Management Alumna Jirunya Bangprapa experienced how the international environment of the program provided her with the opportunity to work together with peers on company group projects, where they were assigned to solve real problems that companies are facing. “Through these projects we could put theory into practice. It was a great way to learn from and work together with people from different backgrounds. I had to adapt myself to work together with other cultures to come up with the best possible solution as a team,” Jirunya said.

Alumnus Davit Alimbarashvili shares a similar view: “the Master in Management gave me the opportunity to attend lectures from outstanding, talented professors and meet interesting people coming from different parts of the world. The fact that all of the groups at MSM were culturally diverse made the process of studying more interesting. Maastricht is a lovely city full of students, and an excellent location for traveling.”

Yes, you read that right. Davit is not wrong when saying Maastricht is an excellent location for traveling. When joining MSM, you will study in one of the oldest and most European cities in the Netherlands. Maastricht is a lively city that has easy access to Amsterdam, Brussels, Cologne, Frankfurt, London and Paris among others. And that’s not the only international aspect of the city. Maastricht is a well-known student city, hosting many international students.

It can be concluded that the Master in Management program is a combination of educating and developing yourself, while being abroad and enjoying an international environment. Who needs a gap year traveling when you can enjoy the best of both worlds?
