Certification of MSM’s Executive Education Programs

In today’s rapidly changing world, it is important for organizations, leaders, managers and professionals to keep their knowledge and skills up to date and relevant. Therefore, MSM offers a range of (short) Executive Education programs in key areas of management, private sector and local economic development in the formats of:

Within these non-degree executive training programs, MSM uses four different forms of certification that are linked to attendance, study load, individual assessment and the level of the training. For each executive education training the participants, clients and organizations will be informed on the indicative EQF[1] level of the program.

MSM offers the following certification options:

  • Proof of attendance: this certificate is being awarded as evidence of participation in a training that is part of a capacity development project. The training is taught by an external consortium partner with an expertise area outside of MSM’s portfolio. This certificate is being awarded in the form of a soft copy when attended at least 80% of the training. The certificate will mention your full name, training title, training date and comprising core topics.
  • Certificate of participation: this certificate is being awarded as evidence of participation in a post-graduate training at indicative level 6 or 7 of the EQF[2]. The minimum study load is 14 hours and an attendance level of 80% is required. This certificate is being awarded in the form of a soft copy when the training is online or a hard copy during a face-to-face training. The certificate will mention your full name, training title, training date and comprising core topics.
  • Certificate of competence: this certificate is being awarded as evidence of having reached the level of competence on the training topic. In order to receive this certificate, learning outcomes are defined at post graduate level 6 or 7 and individually assessed. The minimum study load is 84 hours, comparable to 3 European credits (EC)[3]*and passing of the individual assessment and an 80% attendance level is required. This certificate is being awarded in the form of a hard copy. This certificate will mention your full name, date of birth, place of birth, training title and transcript.

MSM reserves the right to deviate from this certification policy in exceptional and individual cases.

*European Credits
Our training programs are high quality programs designed around the EC academic standards. The decision as to whether an exemption for degree programs or other training courses is granted is entirely up to the university or institution that offers the study program for which you request an exemption. MSM cannot guarantee that diplomas give an exemption at other institutes.

Note that MSM’s certification policy is effective from February 2021 onwards.

[1] The European Qualification Framework (EQF) is a learning outcomes-based framework for all types of qualifications that serves as a translation tool between different national qualifications frameworks. EQF helps improve transparency, comparability and portability of people’s qualifications and makes it possible to compare qualifications from different countries and institutions.
[2] In exceptional cases, the certificate of participation can also be awarded for level 4 or 5 trainings of the EQF
[3] European Credits (EC) are a tool of the European Higher Education Area which makes studies and courses more transparent. EC allows credits taken at one higher education institution to be counted towards a qualification studied for at another. EC represent learning based on defined learning outcomes and their associated workload.
