K2K Burundi (Orange Corners)

This K2K project will build institutional and human capacity in Burundian universities to deliver high-quality, practice-oriented entrepreneurship education. By nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets and skills among students, the project aims to contribute to inclusive economic development, youth employment, and innovation in Burundi.

This is operationalized in the following specific objectives:

  1. To equip students with – digital - entrepreneurial competences, mindset, skills, and knowledge, through the development and/or revision of (at least) 15 courses (3 courses per university) and organizing a Design Challenge for (at least) 150 students.
  2. To strengthen the pedagogical and leadership capabilities required for delivering and sustaining entrepreneurship education through a customized Train-the-Trainer program and peer-learning for (at least) 30 lecturers and university leaders.
  3. To align academic programming with private sector needs and foster collaborative ecosystems.
  4. To embed organizationally and educationally the Design Challenge and related entrepreneurship activities and provide a platform for venture development.

The project is being implemented with the following five universities as beneficiaries:

  1. University of Burundi: The country’s main public university, with over 20,000 students enrolled across 16 faculties and institutes.
  2. Université du Lac Tanganyika: A private institution with approximately 3,200 students in various faculties.
  3. Hope University: Established in 2000, it serves around 6,000 students across campuses in Bujumbura, Gitega, and Cibitoke.
