L.J.P.M. (Léon) Frissen

Mr. Léon Frissen was Queen’s Commissioner (or Queen’s Governor) of the province of Limburg, Netherlands from 2005 to 2011. Prior to that he was the mayor of the municipality Horst aan de Maas (2001 - 2005) and Arcen en Velden (1994 – 2001). From 1986 to 1994 he was Member of the Dutch Parliament.

Apart from being chairman of the supervisory board of MSM he is also:

  • Chairman of the SvB Mediahuis (Dutch papers);
  • Member of the SvB Greenport Development Company (Venlo);
  • Member of the SvB Zuyderland hospitals (Heerlen/Sittard);
  • Member of advisory councils of the Dutch government.

Mr. Frissen has received the following distinctions:

  • Commander in the Order of Pope Gregory the Great (2012)
  • Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau (2011)
  • J.G.H. (Sjeng) Tans Medal, University of Maastricht (2011)
  • Honorary Medal of the Province of Limburg (2011)
  • Honorary Medal of the City of Maastricht (2011)
  • Grand Officer of the Royal Order of King Leopold II, Belgium (2010)

Léon Frissen is Chairman of the MSM Supervisory Board since 1 April 2016 and has been a member of the MSM Board since 1 July 2011.
