Jeroen Jansen is founder and managing partner of Acquis EU Law & Policy – a law firm and public policy boutique with headquarters in Brussels. Acquis offers legal as well as public policy and advocacy services and is also highly recognized for its capabilities in the field of sanctions compliance advice and diplomatic support services. He is also engaged as Senior Advisor at Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII). Founded with the conviction that the path to social and political stability in the MENA region requires a sound and sustainable economic base, the Middle East Investment Initiative breaks from traditional aid models and designs innovative development finance initiatives that foster economic opportunities and dignity instead of dependency. Previously, Jeroen was partner at a leading international law firm (2006-2019).
He is a lawyer by training (EU Law and Public International Law, University of Maastricht 1990) and specialized in international relations and EU law and policy making. He brings extensive diplomatic experience to the team as a former member of the Dutch diplomatic service (1990-2001) where he held postings in The Hague (Legal & Political UN Directorate), Former Yugoslavia (observer missions), Vienna (Permanent Mission of the Netherlands to the OSCE), Beirut (Deputy Chief of Mission of the Netherlands Embassy) and Brussels (European Commission secondment). He was also appointed National (Economic) Sanctions Coordinator (1993-1996) in the Netherlands. He also gained energy sector experience working for a global energy company in oil & gas where he was responsible for regulatory, government affairs and business development (2001-2005).
