On Wednesday March 15, a group of stakeholders of the agricultural sector in Palestine agreed on concrete steps to create a forum with the purpose to foster innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector of Palestine through linking and learning. It is an initiative from all key stakeholders of the sector, such as universities, private sector, government, NGO’s, and donors. It is an open forum. MSM facilitates this process as part of the Netherlands-funded PAAC project (Palestinian Agribusiness & Academic Cooperation).

MSM’s Dr. Nora Stel awarded prestigious research grant

MSM’s Assistant Professor in Governance and Human Rights, Dr.Nora Stel, has been awarded a Niels Stensen Postdoctoral Fellowship. The fellowship – which aims to encourage talented young academics by supporting ‘outstanding researchers who recently received their PhD to enable them to gain research experience at a top university or institute abroad’ – will allow Nora to take one year of unpaid leave from her position at MSM to do research abroad.

Over the last 10 years the EU has given a strong impulse to innovation procurement. Among others, the EU has designed several legal instruments that allow the public sector to stimulate private actors to develop innovative solutions to meet a wide range of public sector needs. These include pre-commercial procurement (PCP), an approach to the procurement of R&D services introduced by a 2007 EC communication. PCP was designed with the aim to encourage public procurers to purchase R&D services that would speed up or prompt the emergence of innovative solutions to public sector needs.
