Educación en sexualidad (Education of Human Sexuality)

Nicaragua - 2005-2007

This tailor made training has been designed by the “Instituto de Educación en Salud” from Lima, Peru, the Maastricht University (MUNDO) and The Maastricht School of Management.
The training for a total of 20 faculty members of the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) and specialists related to sexual education in Nicaragua has been implemented partly in Nicaragua, partly in the Netherlands and concluded in 2007 with a refresher course in Nicaragua and in Peru. The overall objective of the training program was to promote sexual education as part of the general education in Nicaragua with the aim to increase the awareness of the Nicaraguan population about the necessity to approach sexuality from a perspective of human rights.

As a final product of the training, the UCA and related organizations developed a strategic plan with short and medium term prioritized objectives and activities to promote and strengthen the sexual education in Nicaragua through teaching and research and towards the society. As a result, several workshops have been organized for students at the UCA and in the UCA started with a series of Master classes related to Sexual Education at the UCA.
